BISA Training Day 2008

On Friday and Saturday 23rd and 24th May 2008 the 4th BISA Training Day was hosted by the National Screen and Sound Archive (NSSA) section of the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth. Six presentations were given and an AGM was held on the Friday; on Saturday morning, a tour was arranged of the National Screen and Sound Archive.

The first presentation of the morning’s proceedings looked at the pros and cons of outsourcing A/V archive engineering at the British Library, the second paper dealt with measuring and reporting digitisation in RTÉ and the last presentation before lunch explained UNESCO’s Memory of the World programme. The first session of the afternoon described the holdings and management of the NSSA and was followed by a presentation about the folklore collection at the National History Museum in Cardiff. The last paper of the afternoon described the CHARM music digitisation programme at King’s College, London. The day ended with the playing of several audiovisual recordings from NSSA.
