Collection name: ; Subjects: Oral History, Classical Music, World, Folk & Traditional Music, Drama & Literature: Our Oral History Collection contains recorded interviews with ordinary people, plus some well-known names, who have lived and worked in the City and County. They recall their own memories of work at Boots, Players or the Raleigh, in the lace and textile industries, in the countryside, down the mines and in a variety of other jobs. They also tell of life on the dole, home life, schooldays, entertainments and social life: personal accounts of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire during the 20th century, including the two World Wars. There are recordings about DH Lawrence, of interviews with his elder brother George and his niece, and others who knew him. There are also many collections within this one where various projects have either archived their materials with us or provided copies. This is still continuing. Currently there are over 420 hours on cassette, originally reel to reel tape.There is also further material which is part of the oral history collection on minidisk and the Italian Connection project which is already in a digital format, as is most new material being archived; items: 700 Compact Cassette, 30 MiniDisc, 172 published CD, 50 Audio CD-R, 30 Digital Audio Files
