Next BISA Training Day

The 2010 British & Irish Sound Archives (BISA) meeting will take place at the Music Department and The Borthwick Institute For Archives, University of York, on 14 and 15 May 2010. The conference will once again offer a great opportunity to learn from and share experiences with colleagues from national institutions to smaller non-specialised repositories, on any aspect of audio archiving.  

Conference Venues

Friday’s events (14 May) will be held in the Rymer Auditorium of the Music Department – look for the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall in the top left hand corner of this map or click on that area for an enlarged version.

Saturday’s sessions (15 May) will be at the Borthwick Institute of Archives which is housed in the JB Morrell Library: click on the top central area of the map for an enlarged version.

Travel to York

By Air

Leeds Bradford International Airport is just under one hour from York by bus. Other airports within a two-hour train ride of York include Manchester, Newcastle, Durham Tees Side, Nottingham, and Birmingham. The London airports are also accessible by rail. More information can be found through the Support Office.

By Rail

York is on the main East Coast Line from London King's Cross to Edinburgh. Fast trains leave from both north and south at frequent intervals. There is also a direct service across the Pennines between York, Leeds and Manchester Airport.

The Borthwick Institute is situated on the Heslington campus of the University, two miles from the railway station, and you will need to get the number 4 bus or a taxi onto campus.
