Collection name: London Transport Museum Collection; Subjects: Oral History; Recorded information messages: London Transport Museum's sound recordings include over 300 oral history interviews which focus on the operation of London's public transport organisations and the lives and experiences of their staff and the people that use the system. The collection includes recordings with staff who served during the First and Second World Wars, including women working for the transport industry on the Home Front. There are extensive interviews with people who were recruited for London Transport from the Caribbean in the 1950s and 60s, as well as recordings with artists, designers, bus drivers, engineers, buskers and many more.
